Helpin' Children

1997 – First meeting of the group on the core of Community aid of the Rotary Club and St. Peter Church, with the Community Kitchen.  With another project, Storytelling, volunteers approached the problems of the community through the children. Mr. Roldon begins to gather at his home people interested in a new campaign. Christmas Toy  is done for the first time for about 300 children in the slums of the Rose Beach Place

1998 – He holds a group of Rotary of proposed new projects. It was a year of training, with volunteers doing courses Project Being alive, City Hall, Prevention of Drug and AIDS, NEPAD and the training course of the Jerusalem AIDS Project, a group that came to Israel to give lectures. Six people work daily on projects at this time

1999 – Helpin’ Hands  appears to informal activity associated with several groups of mutual cooperation, such as the YMCA, Lions, the parishes of St. Peter and companies such as Varig Airlines. The Christmas Toy  grows to over a thousand  donated toys, including a party of Santa Claus. The fundraising is done with parties and social events, bingo, raffles, and friends.

2000 – New Projects: More  support of organizations by companies, Telemar and TV Globo. Mr. Roldon’ Home venue for raising funds for the continuity of projects weekly.

2001 – Local newspapers strengthen the support and the name of the group begins to be known. The result was the increase in collections of toys for almost 3 thousand and more volunteers offering space related lectures and courses.

2002 – 2003 – Formalization of  Helpin’ Hands as a benefit society.  GloboNews,  City Hall (Social Work and Department of Community Affairs), Church of St. Peter, Adventists, Lions Club, Edel, SENAC, Iacht Club Jardim Guanabara, Extra Supermarkets and Shopping Island Plaza are now join the society.  Mr. Roldon Wins Award of Merit social SESC Volunteer program.

2004 – Year of the formalization, as the Organization for the Promotion of Social Welfare. Higher returns on Social Media and Mass, which drives the demand for more resources. They get the free lectures on STD and AIDS that will lead the project Valuing Life. There are now nearly 10 thousand people attended and no more than 30 people in volunteer work everyday.

2005 – Mother and Child Health, following talks with the help of the Military Police and Rotary. Christmas Toy  reaches 10 thousand toys and Community Kitchen serves 300 people daily, with meals at low cost. 9 projects are already underway.

2006 – Discover Your City’s new project for the children of Rosa Beach Place, which party wins this year at Easter, KIDS Day and Christmas, all with toys and clothes as a gift.

2007 – New project, which is still trying to establish itself. Take the oil to collect and recycle used oil as an option of income. The NGO then consolidates the total of twelve projects in progress, each in the bar of daily business, volunteers and this site since July 2008.
